| The Education of Shelby Knox-Educational Documentary Film |
|
Shelby Knox is a fifteen year old resident of Lubbock, Texas who is like most other girls around her a self proclaimed catholic goody girl who has vowed against sex and is all for abstinence from sex till marriage. However, she soon discovers that it is her state that has one of the maximum figures of people suffering from sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancies etc and that is when she realizes that the problem lies in the method of education; what was the form of sex education there was a complete abstinence from sex, whereby most teenagers were learning nothing about safe sex and the use of condoms. The film follows Shelby’s pursuit of what she believes is right and that is to fight for the right kind of sex education and thankfully she also has parents who support her equally in her pursuit. Shelby is an outspoken and brave kid who speaks what she believes is right and lets nobody and nothing stand in her path; and the documentary thus is a brilliant inspiration for many younger people in helping them to decide what they believe is right and to have courage. |
This film is quite a bold out-there kind of a documentary that if watched with the rest of the family might cause quite a lot of dinner-time conversation if you are open to that kind of dialogue. The film is actually quite inspirational in terms of how a young fifteen year old perhaps has more common sense than most other people around her.
