| To Sir, With Love-Educational Movie |

There is just something about the frankness of the dialogues, the phenomenal acting by Sydney Poitier, the themes that are tackled by the film such as those of racial discrimination in turbulent times in London and similar issues which all contribute to making the film truly unique. The film has been popular through all these years after being released and is definitely one of those films that you ought to recommend your children to watch when they are growing up; it is essentially a film about how all children really need while growing up is a sense of direction and sometimes somebody they can trust to show it to them. The film however does have its bits of fantasy as well. Although the first half of the film is serious the last half of the film takes on a more fantasy feel than before, Sydney Poitier finds himself dancing with his students in his classroom while other teachers are amused and clap along and that sort of thing. But perhaps this only adds to the whole feel-good theme that the film tries to create by conjoining the two parts of the film that makes it such a big success. |
Among the many films that have been already made on struggling teachers trying to overcome the frustration that comes with having to teach to a disinterested classroom of bored students, ‘To Sir With Love’ is surely one among these that will not seem familiar to you even if you have seen similar plots before.
