Wings of Evolution is a documentary about the revolutionary education system of Siragu, which is a school for underprivileged and homeless children, situated in the outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The Indian education system, for a long time, has dealt exclusively with compulsory learning procedures, learning by rote and examination based evaluation.
There was no emphasis on a child’s grasping of concepts, implications, and critical thinking in real life. However, the Siragu school, despite having a limited number of resources and many, many obstacles to overcome, maintains a quality of education that is quite rare indeed. In fact, such an education system cannot be found elsewhere in the world. The most important thing is that this education is free, and if this kind of education system can be encouraged, and then it will be great for all those underprivileged children who can come forward to educate themselves. Otherwise they would not have such a possibility to have even basic education. The documentary should definitely be watched because it brings together many children from different parts of the world, through the means of a world-wide postcard sharing workshop where all the kids share their thoughts and ideas, and promote cultural diversity as well as global peace. Watch this documentary because it shows how one can battle the odds, and get the basic education through a unique system that needs to encouraged and supported for proper propagation. It’s a highly educational documentary that anyone and everyone will enjoy.
